Introduction
The 993, the last of a great line of air cooled 911’s.
Built between 1994 and 1998, replacing the 964, the 993 was a greatly improved car. Porsche redesigned the entire car from the ground up, including the engine, giving the later 3.6 litre 993 Carrera S, 285 BHP.
Coupled with a completely new lightweight sub-frame and a new multi-link suspension system, the 993 was a vast improvement and is regarded by many as the best 911, and the 993 Carrera S is one of the rarest variants of the 993.
The Carrera 2S and 4S both had lowered suspension when compared with the standard Carrera Models and shared the much loved flared wheel arches with the Turbo. Although this wider bodywork increases drag, lowering the top speed, the additional width of the rear tyres result in excellent roadholding and traction.
