The second-generation 997 GT3 is considered by some observers to be the most accomplished of the breed.

Launched in 2009 at the Geneva Motor Show, it boasted more power and torque than the first generation GT3 and some very impressive performance numbers, including a 0-62mph sprint cut down to 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 194mph.

It gained a new 3.8-litre engine which was to be the last of the Mezger units, producing 435bhp at 7,900rpm and 430Nm of torque at 6,250rpm.

Forged aluminium pistons and titanium connecting rods were part of a tasty specification that included VarioCam for inlet and exhaust cams, dry-sump lubrication with an oil-to-water heat exchanger and the £800 option of dynamic engine mounts.

It’s an immensely strong unit that, unless used for pounding endlessly around the Nordschleife, shouldn’t give any problems. Clearly, any example you find should have been meticulously maintained so any gaps in the service history should ring alarm bells.

Double Wrapped Alcantara Steering Wheel

This car is potentially the holy grail of 997.2 GT3’s, not only is it finished in the desirable and rare PTS Colour of Riviera Blue, believed to be one of just 3 in this colour of the 130 UK RHD Examples delivered, it has also had one meticulous owner from new and has covered just 7,598 Miles.

Supplied new by Porsche Centre Silverstone and registered on 26th February 2010, the original owner deliberated for many months on the specification, a meeting with Andreas Preuninger at a GT3 Launch event cemented his final choices and also added one, we believe unique, feature – a double wrapped alcantara steering wheel.

Pampered from new, it benefits from a full service history with the supplying dealer as outlined below and has always been and remains under Porsche Warranty until 1st March 2020.

It has only ever been wet by washing or having been caught in an unexpected shower, and has never seen a track, has never had any accident damage or paint work. Used sparingly on dry summer days, examples like this are now few and far between, indeed it may well be the only one left.

Coupled with an fabulous specification, this example probably cannot be repeated and is likely the one for a discerning buyer looking for the best example of the breed.
